No. 69: Western Painted Turtle Watercolor
The three species of painted turtle (eastern, midland, and western) all have the colorful stripes on their extremities, but only the western painted turtle has the fabulous yellow/orange/red undercarriage. No. 68: American Goldfinches Watercolor
The american goldfinch migrates, but in a small range, so they are seen year-round in Missouri. The male (right) turns from brilliant yellow in summer to olive in winter, and the female a dull yellow, brown shade in winter, is only a slightly brighter yellow in summer. This unframed, original watercolor measures 9" x 12" surrounded by a 11" x 14" light beige matboard. This painting has been sold. No. 67: Prickly Pear Blossom Watercolor
The prickly pear is one of only a few "succulents" in Missouri. Its blossoms come in three distinct colors: white, yellow, and red. The fruits (called opuntia or tuna) have been used for thousands of years to make jellies and an alcoholic drink called colonche. This unframed original watercolor measures 6.5" x 10.5" surrounded by a 9" x 13" pale yellow matboard. This painting sells for $100 which includes shipping.
