No. 91: Eastern Tiger Swallowtail Watercolor
Male eastern tiger swallowtails are the familiar yellow and black. Females, however, are dimorphic: yellow and black or "black morphs" with magnificent black/blue wings and bright orange patches. Here it feeds on a favorite, butterfly weed (milkweed) with its bright flowers and abundant nectar. This original watercolor measures 12"x16" surrounded by a steel blue matboard. This painting has been sold. To learn more about my other paintings, please contact me at cajuntom55@gmail.com. Enjoy.
